Ansgar founded Upstream Exploration Services Namibia in 2017. He is a geoscientist with over 20 years of experience in applied geology. He obtained a PhD in Geology on Namibian Palaeozoic - Mesozoic Basins from the University of Würzburg, Germany. 

He further has been a geoscience lecturer at the University of Namibia, of which he headed the geology department from 2012-2016 and established a petroleum geoscience program. 

His main expertise is Petroleum Geoscience with focus on frontier Petroleum Exploration. This involves the interpretation and analysis of data sets, and the subsequent design and execution of exploration programs. Upstream Exploration Services Namibia has established a wide network with international expertise and service providers to carry out any specialized tasks required. 

Mbarii supported flight operations for Namibia's national airline, a busy environment that constantly required quick adjustment and solutions. Thereafter she provided administrative support for onshore drilling operations with Pioneer Oil Field Services.  Most recently she has been the transport coordinator for the TotalEnergies' deep-water rig operations offshore Namibia.
